How did you attract/address your audience?

Attract the Audience

We decided to base our film at females aged between 18-30. We had to research previous films to our chosen audience so that we had an idea as to what would attract their attention to our film. We came up with the following ideas to attract our audience: 

• Editing of the film as you don't know who the stalker is until the very end of the film.
• Actors as we have a young innocent girl and a stalker who turns out to be a woman who is desperate for a child but cannot have one herself. Actors can be a way to attract audiences as some people will just see the film because their favourite actor/actress might be in it. 
• The location of the film is in a everyday street so there will be people who live in similar streets as the one the we used in our final film.
• The plot of the film which is a young girl being stalked and the audience doesn't know who the stalker is until the very end of the film which adds suspense. The plot of a film can also be a good way to attract audiences as well as address them as some people may have also gone through IVF treatment to have a child.
• We have also used music throughout our film which adds suspense but is also quite sad music which shows the stalkers point of view as she is desperate for a child but can't have one.
• The name of the film is The Unknown as you don't find out the stalker until the end also the name of a film can sometimes make a person what to see the film as the title might sound good.

Using modern day things such as posters of people people around the age group we are aiming our film at would know was something that people would look for 'people we know to be in the film in some way' here we have included a poster of a famous singer that many people will know and there for although she has nothing to do with the film, they are instantly drawn in to watch on.We did this because women aged 18-30 may be able to relate to it as they might have had posters of artists they liked when they were younger, also she is shown dancing around her bedroom like any typical young girl.This relates to our audience as when they were younger, they may have done the same thing. This scene is related to a thriller because it is keeping the audience interacted to the film because they want to know whether the young girl notices the stalker, as when you watch our film you see the stalker looking up at the girls bedroom, so they want to know if she has spotted the stalker

Here we used camera techniques that keep the audience interested. Using the young girl to keep them watching an slowing zooming in building the tension that they are so desperate to see and feel. Also we added sound effects so that you hear the stalker breathing which also makes this shot more interesting as the audience do not want to look away in case something happens e.g. the girl notices the stalker

With using the hoodies that cover both the stalker and the baby that is included here we are using something that the teens that are included in our target audience are associated with so we are using something that they are familiar with so they as more likely to enjoy the film.The stalker is shown rocking a doll which our target audience may be mothers so they could relate to the feeling of caring for their own child. Furthermore, whether they are mothers or not they have done the same thing when they were younger and used to play 'dolls' as children. The childrens programme on in the background makes the whole scene a bit more realistic and it makes the viewer interact with the film as the stalker is watching tv whilst rocking a doll as if it were her real child.
